The following email was sent to everyone that works for this law firm, including everyone in the Monroeville office that I've never met, and most I've never even communicated with via email or phone. Never.
The firm will have a new employee Linda H. on July 5, 2006. Linda will be assisting Stephen and Diane in the downtown office.
Unfortunately, Katie P. will be leaving the firm on Friday, June 30, 2006.
Please wish Katie luck on Friday, June 30 on her future endeavors and say hello to Linda on July 5th.
Okay, yeah.
Am I overreacting, or does this seem tactless and unprofessional? I mean:
1) Why couldn't they send this email after I left?
2) Why couldn't they just NOT copy me in on this email?
3) Doesn't the word "leaving" imply that I quit? Perhaps for bigger and better things?
4) Is this why people instantly stop talking when I walk into the room?
Oh wait, no. That last one would be because I spent 4 hours today with my skirt on backwards. Wish someone had told me.
